Janis Joplin

The 1960’s were a time of sex, drugs, and rock n’ roll. Music was the centerpiece of this time and focused heavily on artists from British boy bands to R&B singers and rockstars. Music was a huge influence and defined the lifestyles of rockers, hippies, and protesters. It often reflected the changing social norms of the decade such as the fight for civil rights for minorities and women and the anti-war movement.

One of the most famous female singers of the era was Janis Joplin who specialized in rock, soul, and blues. She was widely successful due to her unique voice and mesmerising performances. She was an enigma and burned like a bright flame until it flickered out. She once said:

“You can destroy your now by worrying about tomorrow”
