Women Who Changed the Game

Introduction

Throughout history, athletics have been dominated by men. Football, soccer, baseball, and basketball are predominantly male-dominated. Sports with a dominant female presence are ice skating and gymnastics, which are considered more of an art form, which can at times downplay the level of athleticism they require. However, woman athletes are not slackers nor did they succeed easily. These women have different skills and come from different backgrounds, from tennis to fencing. They’re all different ages and have different accomplishments. But there’s still a common thread that holds them all together: they all changed what was considered normal and took a stand against what they thought was wrong. These athletes are true “game changers.” Below, read about just a few of these women.
