Stanton was born on November 12, 1815 and died on October 26,1902 in New York City. She set down the foundation of the three main branches of feminism. Liberal Feminism - which focuses on women’s similarities to men and emphasizes equality. Cultural Feminism - which celebrates women’s differences from men and aims for gender equity. Dominance Feminism - which focuses on overturning male power/female submission dynamics and all other forms of gender hierarchy.

Stanton also held the famous Seneca Falls Convention in July 1848. At this meeting, the attendees drew up the “Declaration of Sentiments” and took the lead in proposing that women be granted the right to vote.
