Susan Kare was born in Ithaca, New York on 1954 and she is one of the most notable contemporary American graphic designers. She is known as “the woman who gave the Macintosh a smile.” Kare worked as a creative director of a company called Apple Creative Services, founded by Tom Suiter. During 1980’s, she created many typefaces, original marketing materials, and icons for the Apple Macintosh. She also worked in a company called NEXT, founded by Steve Jobs, and created icons for Windows 3.0 and Microsoft. She also managed the card deck for Window 3.0’s solitaire game project.
