Propaganda is charged words and or images used to manipulate individuals into thinking a particular way. During the 1940s, the United States used propaganda to unify the homefront, raise anti-Nazi sentiment as well as recruit women into the workforce.
A piece of propaganda that persisted past its intended purpose is Rosie the Riveter. The Westinghouse Electric Corporation commissioned J. Howard Miller to create the poster around 1942. It was distributed by the War Production Coordinating Committee. Read more >>>
