Life After Joplin

The last song of her album, Pearl, was entirely instrumental as Joplin died the same day of the recording. The song was named “Buried in the Blues” as a tribute to her because she’d died singing and feeling the “blues”.The whole album reached #1 on the album charts for 9 weeks in 1971.

She was nominated for the Grammys in 1971 for best pop vocal performance as well as best R&B vocal performance. In 2005, she won the Lifetime Achievement Award and was inducted to the Rock n’ Roll Hall of Fame. She entered the Hall of Fame in 2010 for Pearl. She in 2005.
