History of the Girl Scouts

By Gabriela Veciana

"Truly, ours is a circle of friendships,
united by our ideals."

-Juliette Gordon Low

Her Mission

Founded in 1912 by Juliette Gordon Low, the Girl Scouts’ mission was and still is to serve those in need. This community is ever changing and ever growing, but some constants are the stress on learning leadership skills in the field of civic engagement, STEM, and the environment. Today there are 2.6 million girl scouts in 92 different countries with over 50 million alumni.
