In 1940, Boggs received her PhD in philosophy placing her one step closer to becoming a civil rights activist. She was highly determined and passionate about her job and she had often stated: “the reward for hard work is more work.” (detroitnews) and many other influential quotes. Later in 1940, she became a tenant organizer, which was when either someone living or not living in a rental property, assists tenants in establishing and operating the property organization. She then became involved in communism, getting involvement with Malcolm X, the Black Power Movement, Revolutionary Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr., among others. She even translated Karl Marx’s essay, Economic and Philosophical Manuscripts of 1844, into English.
In the 70s, Boggs began publishing books. She wrote:
